Club History The Upper Canada Judo Club was formed in February, 2002 by Mr. D. Burt. Our students have won medals at all levels of competition including provincials and nationals. Black belt instructors are highly experienced and NCCP certified. The emphasis of our club is competitive judo, however, we also offer recreational programs. The Upper Canada Judo Club is very proud of our blend of juniors, seniors and families. Many families include children, parents and even grandparents participating together. Current and Upcoming Events June 2022 We are moving. After many years at the Mary Street School we will be moving to the Oshawa Civic on Thornton Road in the Bobby Orr room. May 2022 Congratulations to Kiera Burt and Angelina McCristal for winning Gold at the Canadian National Championships and being selected to compete at the U18 World Championships. August 2021 We are hoping to start classes in laae August, Stay tuned for updates. September 2019 Congratulations to Kiera Burt for being named Judo Ontario Under 16 Female Athlete of the Year. August 2019 Good Luck to Zach Burt as he competes in the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Also best Wishes to Emily Burt competing at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and Daniel McCristall competing at the U18 World Championships in Almaty, Ukraine. February 2019 Congratulations to Sensei Dave Burt on earning his promotion to Godan(5th) and a special thank you to Sensei William Doherty for coming out to the dojo for the promotion. February 2019 Congratulations to Erik, Daniel and Angelina for representing UCJC and Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games. January 2018 Two of our Judoka have qualified to compete in the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. We wish Erik Vandersanden and Rachel Krapman all the best. UCJC is proud to be sending 7 of our athletes to the Elite 8 National Championship. August 2017 A very special congratulations to Emily Burt for her fabulous month of July. Emily took gold at 2 European Cups and the Francophone Games over a 4 week period. Emily is now ranked #2 in the World in the Junior(U21) division.

December 2016 Special Congratulations to Samuel Burt and Eric Opaleychuk for their promotion to the rank of Shodan. November 2016 Congratulations to Zach and Jonah Burt for their promotion to the rank of Sandan.
May 2016 Congratulations to all the athletes that participated in the Canadian Nationals in Calgary. UCJC took 7 competitors and returned with 5 medals. May 2016 Best of luck to the team traveling to Alberta for the Canadian Open Judo Championships. The event is being streamed and can be seen HERE April 2016 Zach Burt is named to the team heading to Cuba for the Pan American Judo Championships. March 2016 Good luck to all our fighters heading to Montreal for the Montreal Cup Congratulations to Zach Burt for winning Gold at the Edmonton International in the -90Kg division. Congratulations
to Emily Burt who had a large division of 64 women in Thuringa, Germany at the
U21 International Championship. Emily had a good day going 5-2 and finishing in
5th place.

Don't forget the UCJC Christmas party on Tuesday,
December 22nd at 6pm. It is one of the few times the whole club is on the mats
